Ladybirds (Baby Room)
During this vital stage children develop and change so quickly that it is important
that all their needs are met. We work closely with parents and carers to ensure that we have continuity with home routines and enable a smooth transition to nursery.
Babies in particular love to explore the world around them. We have a wide range of resources enabling each child to develop and gain experiences using their senses during play.
Our resources vary from natural resources and musical instruments, to more familiar
favourite toys and books.
All the resources in baby room are at low levels so that from an early age children are free to make their own choices and access the resources themselves.
We have treasure baskets which provide children with different textures, materials, natural home resources and smells which the children can freely choose to explore and have fun with.

Dragonflies (Toddler Room)
Babies quickly transform into toddlers and again we ensure that their needs and interests are met during this important stage in their life. Greenview Nursery adopts the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework, and this enables us to provide the most flexible and stimulating development programme which ensures that at each stage of their development your child’s unique needs are met.
Dragonflies is equipped with toys and apparatus which is age specific to challenge and enhance each child’s development. They have access to outdoors from the playroom and areas have been created for specific activities for children to make their own choices and develop their own interests. They enjoy our P.E. sessions in a large open space to enable them to have the space to develop physically with jumping, climbing, running and skipping.
In Dragonflies, potty /toilet training usually takes place with plenty of advice and support given to you, and patience and encouragement is given to your child.

Caterpillars (Lower Preschool)
The Caterpillars room is a hive of activity. We prioritise the children’s individual needs, learning styles and interests to curate a curriculum bursting with curiosity and interest, ready to capture the wonder of all our little learners.
Our Lower Preschool room marks the start of our school readiness programme as your little one’s graduate from the younger side of nursery to the older. We build on independence and confidence, providing your little explorers with the vital tools needed to lead their learning journey. Providing activities and experiences to spark a real interest in the world around them and embed an enthusiasm for learning is of our upmost priority whilst also creating a safe nurturing environment for your little ones to explore and navigate those big feelings as their Personal Social and Emotional skills mature.
We spend our time split 50:50 indoors and outdoors exploring risk and using the natural world to build on our holistic knowledge, so wet suits and wellies are a must!
Butterflies (Upper Preschool)
Our qualified and experienced team are ready to encourage each child’s development through varied and age-appropriate activities.
As your preschooler’s awareness of their imagination and language increases, opportunities to learn will be supported continually, whether it’s mixing and making play dough or expressing themselves through music or play.
Our pre-school unit brings excitement, challenge and fun to every day. In or pre-school we have:
- An ICT area with interactive whiteboard

Outdoors
At Greenview Nursery we are committed to outdoor play in all weathers for all ages of children. All activities will be made accessible to children with special educational needs.
Children need regular access to outdoor play in order to develop their large and small muscles, experience an environment that is different to the inside of the nursery and more importantly access sunlight in order to absorb vitamin D more effectively. The outdoor areas, both within the nursery grounds and in the local community have a wealth of resources which help children to develop in a variety of ways, including independence, exploration and investigative skills, risk taking and self esteem all of which support children to develop skills for now and the future.
Our outdoor area is a classroom too as children learn more when they are fully engaged in their own initiated play. All the areas of the EYFS are covered outside and the outdoor area is set up each day based on the children's interests.
